HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS
Through our partnership with COMPRA Foods, ubiquitous corner stores in Historic South LA now have an easy option for selling fresh produce. As new stores join the COMPRA Foods Program, our youth leaders work with store owners to effectively sell produce through proper product handling, marketing tactics, and ideal merchandising strategies.
The BUILD Health LA Food Voucher Campaign is a FREE food access campaign sponsored by a partnership between National Health Foundation, California Hospital Medical Center, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and Leadership for Urban Renewal Network (LURN) with the goal of making fruits and vegetables more accessible to the residents of Historic South Central Los Angeles.

HOW DOES THE VOUCHER CAMPAIGN WORK?
At the beginning of every month, starting in April 2017, community organizations and clinics distribute vouchers to Historic South Central LA residents.
Each BUILD Health LA food voucher carries a $5.00 value. Vouchers can be redeemed at partner stores for FRESH fruits and vegetables ONLY.
Stores that participate in the voucher campaign get reimbursed for their sales of fruits and vegetables to voucher recipients. That’s it! It is simple for stores and community members, and everybody wins!
